Staying positive can be really hard in this line of business, when you think you have done a great job get and you still don't get booked, no after no after no, it can really eat away at you. Sometimes it can feel like an up hill battle to stay positive, focused and keeping the faith.
I think it is important to acknowledge these feelings, everyone at some point in their life experiences them and it is how we deal with it that can change the course of our lives. Accepting that some days you will lack some belief, that you will feel negative, letting yourself 'wallow' for a small period of time and then pull yourself back, dust yourself off and get back out there.
It would be great to be happy, positive and in constant belief f yourself all the time, but the fact is we are human and we feel a range of emotions, the low moments are needed to show us how great the good moments can be.
Find a way to accept and deal with the low points, but don't allow them to go on for too long, whether it is just sitting doing nothing infront of the TV, going for a walk or taking it out on a punch bag, deal with those emotions. The more you ignore them and hide them in that little box in your head the more the negative will become overpowering.
It is also massively beneficial to always look for the positive, so you don't have an audition yet this week? Well that then gives you time to work on your marketing campaign for you. As an actor you are a business so you need to work it like one. You didn't get that role you wanted, but you got in the door and you got seen, plus you got to perform, even if it was for a short while.
There is always a positive to be found, there are always positive actions that can be taken. But at the end of the day though you may lack faith in yourself sometimes you have got to have a grounded vision and faith in yourself that you can do it. It is this that stops you from ever quitting.
Take a look at my video, it also includes sneek peek at where the film I was in 'The Darkness of the Moor' was filmed. I got to attend the screening and I was blown away by the cinematography, so many awesome shots and really shows the beauty of Dartmoor. I think this one will do extremely well in the festival circuit
